The SHERLOCK/ BENEDICT Effect!!!

I guess I am old… or at least that was what I thought till a few days back…

However, I was in for a rude shock. I came across this mini-series, “Sherlock”, and boom!! Something happened. Something that I had never experienced before, something that should have happened when I was an adolescent happened. Well, the thing is, I am deeply infatuated, yes that’s right, you read it right, DEEPLY INFATUATED by a celebrity. How utterly untimely it is!! I figured out why it is utterly ridiculous and the following are the reasons:

1.        I am in a steady relationship for about five years, and I love my boyfriend.
2.       The feeling is called infatuation… and that is for teenagers!!!
3.       He is a celebrity. How can someone my age fall for a celebrity???? It’s for kids…
4.       I have never had a crush on a non real person ever…, yes, not even in school!!

And there is more. To tell the truth, I am actually infatuated by a fictional character, as I predominantly like the character of Sherlock. I am so curious. What would Sherlock figure out with a fleeting glance at me?? Would he deduce my chocolate munching habit from the shape of my nose or would he deduce what course I am doing from the angle of my neck?? So even though, all I dream of these days is a chance encounter with him, there is no way I would meet him. (You wouldn’t want to hear about my dreams. They are absolutely ridiculous)

Come on, first, Sherlock does not exist. There is only a museum at 221 B Baker Street. No real person lives there. Second, even if I could meet Benedict, I would go crazy. After all he is the real person. But that would never happen. I guess he has more fan clubs than I have friends in my Facebook account!!

So, I am spending my holidays cursing myself. I am also cursing the person who cast Benedict for the role. Life would have been much simpler if the role of Sherlock was played by a stiff, conservative and preferably aged gentleman. The whole show, I feel, was aimed to trap me. Why on earth would they have so many close-up shots of the man? And what about his eyes and the look he keeps giving? It’s not fair at all. The irony is that I was first told about this Sherlock phenomenon by my boyfriend. Poor soul, didn’t even realize what he was doing…

But, coming back to my problem, I don’t know what to do. If anyone who reads this knows a way I could meet Benedict (ha ha ha, how absurd!), please please please let me know…
Finally, it’s time for me to perhaps say “GROW UP, YOU ARE TOO OLD FOR THIS”.

Note: I have drawn my inspiration from the fact that, when you search for Benedict in youtube, you get clips with comments like,
·         “I think I just had a stroke”
·         “Sherlock: God’s gift to women!!”
·         “whoooosh - still fanning self - he's hot”
·         “thank you God for this man”
There are some more, but those are too raw for my blog… The truth is some of the clips are actually too hot to handle. So, all you girls go and have a blast!!

PS: Benedict, if by any weirdest chance you read this blog, do take it seriously and contact me… And don’t worry, I am not really old.
